Steps to Become Certified from College of Executive Coaching

Steps to Become Certified

Here are the steps to become a certified coach through the College of Executive Coaching:

Option 1

Participate in a six-day online intensive followed by a series of virtual courses. Your intensive training is conducted in six days — this way you complete 44 hours in just one week, so it is efficient — and all the remaining courses are completed via convenient live virtual courses and a few streaming video classes. This is the option most of our students choose. This enables you to get a jump start by completing 44 hours of training in one week, having an intensive environment with a core group of coaching student peers and faculty. Then you will continue to learn more coaching skills each week and put them in practice as you progress through our certification program. This path allows you to register for and pay for classes as you go along. You could take just some of the courses in the certification program or complete our 72-hour Level One ICF Accredited Certified Professional Coach Program or our full 128-hour Level Two ICF-accredited Coach Training Program. If you register for the entire 72-hour certification Level One accredited program at one time you receive a 5% tuition discount, and if you register for the full 128-hour ICF Level Two accredited program at one time, you receive a large 15% tuition discount. The latter is recommended because of the more extensive training you receive and most of our students do go on to complete the full 128-hour Level Two accredited program. Contact our office to receive these discounts.

Option 2

Attend all your courses without the intensive six-day component. Instead of the six-day intensive program, you will attend a special small group course called Coaching Essentials, which is only for option two students doing our non-intensive path. This Coaching Essentials course takes the place of the six-day intensive, and instead is an average of two hours per week. Next, you will enter the other virtual courses with other students to complete the balance of your certification. The Traditional 2-hour per Week Program is a complete Level Two 128-hour ICF-accredited Coach Training Program that can be paid for in a single installment with a $1,000 discount, or in two installments. Option 2 is our most economical path to a full Level Two ICF Accredited Certification. Either of these options will provide you the education, mentoring and performance evaluation requirements for an ICF credential.

Option 3

Most of our students complete our 72 or 128-hour certifications which primarily focuses on executive coaching. However, recently many of our students choose to complete our 75-hour Positive Psychology-based Wellness and Well-being Coaching Certification. This course was primarily designed for students who have a particular interest in wellness or well-being coaching and provides the educational background for the National Board of Health and Wellness Coach credential, called the Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. In fact, many of our graduates of either our option one or two programs, are increasingly coming back and completing this option because they want to add a specialty of wellness coaching and also have the credential that is offered through the National Board of Medical Examiners, the same board that licenses physicians. Our special ICF enhanced version of this option can also meet the educational, mentoring, and performance evaluation credentialing requirements for an ICF Associated Certified Coach (ACC) credential.

Regardless of the option you choose to complete your coursework, there are additional requirements for each certification path such as documenting 50 hours of coaching experience, completing an oral evaluation of coaching competency, and a short essay about your experience of becoming a coach. Contact us to request the complete requirements for the certification program.
